미국 캘리포니아주 Los Angeles 시에서 Hwy 101 따라 북쪽으로 128 마일 올라가면 풍차로 유명한H Solvang이란 Danish Town이 있다.

1911년 덴마크에서 이주해온 사람들중 교사 몇명이 주동이 되어 시작된 마을이 지금은 하나의 시로서 많은 관광객을 불러들이는 큰 기업이 된 타운이다.

Hwy 101 에서 Exit 140 에서 나가  CA-246 동쪽으로 쏠뱅싸인 따라 3.5 마일 가면 우리 눈에 익을 풍차가 눈에 확 들어온다.

CA 246 선상인 Copenhagen 고펜하겐 좌우로 많은 Gift shop과 레스트랑이 있어 눈길을 끌고 있어 입구에 위치한 Public Parking에 우선 주차를 하고 구경에 나섰다.

한참 걷다가 보니 우리가 잘 알고 있는 Danish Roll을 파는Danish Bakery가 눈에 띄여 다리도 쉴겸 들어가 보았다.

따끈한 커피와 롤 하나를 시켜서 먹으며 다음 어디를 구경할까 궁리도 하고 곁에 딸려있는 Gift shop에 들어가 덴마크 특성이 보이는 각종 물건들은 구경하는 재미로 시간 가는줄 모르고 있었다.

 

<<Solvang was founded in 1911 by a group of Danish educators to build a school serving the Danes on the West Coast.

At the time of their arrival only the Old Mission Santa Inez was in the area.

The architecture of the buildings is very much of the old world with steep gabled roofs, windmills, and the
typical old world building style even to a real thatched roof on the corner of Copenhagen and First Street.

The shops are filled with wares from near and afar and the bakeries loaded with Danish pastries and cookie.
